• Stream: Hunk – Precipice

    Dublin lo-fi rock duo Sundara O’Higgins and Niamh Hegarty AKA Hunk have unveiled a brand new track, ‘Precipice’. Taken from their forthcoming debut EP, Fledgling – set for release on November 22 – the track is a wonderfully fully-formed effort with swathes of nocturnal noise, slightly off-kilter harmonies and a general air of Grass Widow about it (far from a bad thing in our book).     Currently on the road with Jimmy Eat World, Little Matador have unveiled a live video of their single ‘Liar Liar’ and an accompanying interview.   • EP Stream: Boxcutter – Gnosis

    Northern Irish electronic producer Barry Lynn AKA Boxcutter has unveiled a stream of his forthcoming new EP, Gnosis. A five-track release “of 160bpm excursions into new territory”, the EP is Lynn’s first appearance on Cosmic Bridge, the release itself curated by label boss Om Unit.   • Watch: Ryan Vail – Free

    Derry electronic duo Ryan Vail (comprised of Katie Cosgrove and Vail himself) have unveiled the video to their new single, ‘Free’. Directed by Giles Labarbe, the typically shadowy and nocturnal video is, in the director’s own words, “about the freedom that one might experience while losing a connection with someone close.   • EP Stream: Sea Pinks – Exploded View

    Released via frontman Neil Brogan’s own label – CF Records – Belfast band Sea Pinks have unveiled their new EP, Exploded View. Featuring the double A-Side ‘An Exploded View’ and ‘Magpies Eyes’, the release also features the tracks ‘PST’ and ‘Pretty Pass’. The follow-up to last September’s fantastic Freak Waves, the EP is limited to 100 7″s.     Belfast City Council have released a statement concerning the delegation of tickets for a Freedom of the City concert by Van Morrison at the Waterfront Hall on November 15.   • Watch: Frightened Rabbit – Holy

    Half way through their current tour Scottish indie rock band Frightened Rabbit have unveiled the video to ‘Holy’. A classic visual take on the general tediousness of modern life, the video features one woman’s kneejerk “return to nature”, culminating in a scene that will be familiar to anyone who has watched The Hours. The track itself is taken from the band’s fourth studio album, Pedestrian Verse. Frightened Rabbit will play Dublin’s Olympia on November 14 and Belfast’s Mandela Hall the following night.     Ahead of setting off on a UK tour tomorrow, Mojo Fury have unveiled the excellent video to their new single, ‘Origami Bird’. Comprise of various visual delights including hand-drawn illustrations and silhouettes similar to those used in the band’s video for ‘The Difference Between’, the video’s visual art concept was devised by Helena Hamilton.     Belfast indie-pop band Go Wolf, fast-rising Derry collective Little Bear and indie rock quartet Seven Summits (pictured) are amongst the twelve acts confirmed to play this year’s Belfast Music Week showcase at Belfast’s Limelight Complex on November 12.
