    Dublin Digital Radio have announced the return of its annual celebration of sound artists, electronic experimenters and DJs, Alternating Current. Coming a year from its exceptional inaugural outing, the second iteration of the festival will return to the airwaves and Dublin city this October.     The country’s most essential radio station, Dublin Digital Radio, have announced details of a new city festival. Originally planned for March 2020, but delayed for obvious reasons, Alternating Current will finally take place via radio broadcasts and in-person events from October 26 to October 31. Marking five years on the air, the festival’s schedule wonderfully mirrors the commitment of ddr. to representing the country’s more peripheral and experimental musical traditions.     Dublin Digital Radio have announced details of a big 4th birthday event next month. From midnight on December 12th, DDR will team up with Guerrilla Studios and Box Moon for Four Waves, a 24-hour event, featuring audiovisual livestreams, video gigs, conversations and more.     Alternating Current is the latest Irish festival to be postponed due to concerns relating to the global spread of coronavirus. Following on from news that Vantastival will now take place later in the year – and with the likes of SXSW, Coachella and national St. Patrick’s Day celebrations at home being postponed or cancelled – it’s been revealed that the inaugural three-day celebration of Ireland’s musical underground won’t go ahead at Dublin’s Sound House this weekend as planned.
