With just over a week until its return to Dingle, Other Voices have announced Waxing Lyrical, a new exhibition of artwork celebrating vinyl. With the official opening of the exhibition taking place on Friday, December 2 at pm at the Other Voices Hub on 12 Main Street, the exhibition “examines the collectors and hoarders, hipsters and upcyclers, innovation and interventions. Set to return to Dingle from December 2-4, the first wave of acts set to play this year’s Other Voices have been revealed. Having offered the likes of Villagers, James Vincent McMorrow and Rusangano Family a platform over the years, the annual call for applicants for the IMRO Open Room at Other Voices 2016 has been made. In December last year, the IMRO Other Room was filmed in front of a live audience as part of the Music Trail for the first time. This July an hour long special on the Other Room aired on RTÉ 2, featuring performances from Saint Sister, Talos, 2015 Open Call winner Saramai and others. Having took place in Dingle across the weekend of December 4-6, the schedule for this year’s Other Voices Live has been revealed. Back for it’s 14th season, the show – a veritable Irish music institution at this point – will return to RTÉ 2 from Saturday, January 23 and will feature Gavin James, Lapsley, Gaz Coombes and Bitch Falcon. Low are amongst a new wave of acts announced to play this year’s Other Voices Live in Dingle from December 4-6. Joining the Ohio slowcore pioneers are Jack Garrett, Keaton Henson, Glen Hansard and The Academic, whilst the acts set to play IMRO’s Other Room are Saint Sister, Talos, Gavin Glass Bitch Falcon and Hawk. Now well and truly an Irish musical institution after 14 years, Other Voices have revealed the first acts to play their return to Dingle from December 4 to December 6. With many more acts yet to be revealed, Richard Hawley, Gaz Coombes, Gavin James, Lapsley and Otherkin are the first five acts to be announced. Set to take place at St. James Church in the Co.
