Lisburn alt-rock four-piece Deadlights have unveiled the video to their new single, ‘Glass Houses’. Directed by Tommy Keery of Dog Kennel Productions, the video features the band playing in what appears to be a disused warehouse, flashing lights becoming an increasing feature as the song progresses. Derry electronic duo Ryan Vail (comprised of Katie Cosgrove and Vail himself) have unveiled the video to their new single, ‘Free’. Directed by Giles Labarbe, the typically shadowy and nocturnal video is, in the director’s own words, “about the freedom that one might experience while losing a connection with someone close. Half way through their current tour Scottish indie rock band Frightened Rabbit have unveiled the video to ‘Holy’. A classic visual take on the general tediousness of modern life, the video features one woman’s kneejerk “return to nature”, culminating in a scene that will be familiar to anyone who has watched The Hours. The track itself is taken from the band’s fourth studio album, Pedestrian Verse. Frightened Rabbit will play Dublin’s Olympia on November 14 and Belfast’s Mandela Hall the following night. Comprise of various visual delights including hand-drawn illustrations and silhouettes similar to those used in the band’s video for ‘The Difference Between’, the video’s visual art concept was devised by Helena Hamilton. Belfast quartet Girls Names have unveiled the video to their new single, ‘The New Life’. Directed by the wonderfully-named Dan Tombs,it is one continuous take of improvisation, shot in an old industrial textile warehouse and filmed with a single static camera. According to Tombs, “the intention is to induce a hypnotic state that compliments the track and captivate an audience.” ‘The New Life’ is the closing track from the band’s second album of the same name, released back in February. Belfast-based post-hardcore/noise-rock three-piece PigsAsPeople have unveiled the video to their recent single, ‘The Art Of Leaving Your House’. With Halloween just around the corner, Dublin four-piece The Mighty Stef have unveiled the video to their aptly-titled new single, ‘Vampire, Hold Me Tight’. Directed by Lindsey Byrne, the video “acknowledge[s] the use of some projections from a certain classic British film that has long been a favourite among the group” AKA Robin Hardy’s 1973 horror classic The Wicker Man. Taken from their forthcoming fourth album – produced in Los Angeles by Alain Johannes in Spring – the track will also features on the band’s introductory three-track release, Iveagh Flats EP, which is set for release on November 7. Earlier this month we featured the enchanting new EP by New York-based singer-songwriter and vocalist Sorcha Richardson. Nine days on we introduce the Dubliner’s new project CON VOS via the Matt Baron-directed video to the sublime ‘Central Park’. Taken from the upcoming five-track EP Cocoon Bloom, the track clings to summer whilst accommodating for Autumnal psychic ruminations, its stomping, shimmering bass-led march – and Richardson’s vocal in particular – suggestive of a very promising extended play on the horizon.
