  • Music Photography Exhbition @ Bloody Mary’s, Dublin

    Opening tonight in Dublin’s Blood Mary’s is a new exhibition featuring the works of four Irish Music Photographers: Leah Carroll, Kieran Frost, Colm Kelly and James Murray. Titled What We Did in The Shadows, the show will feature work by the four photographers over the last ten years of live music in Ireland, taking in gigs of all sizes from local venues through to international festivals. Artists featured include The Fall, The Strokes, Green Day and Billie Eliish, as well as native acts such as The Murder Capital, Lankum, U2 and The Undertones.   • HALFTONE 2018 Launch

    Tonight sees the launch of the 2018 edition of HALFTONE print fair in The Library Project in Dublin’s Temple Bar. Running for just over two weeks, HALFTONE features over 70 artists with a mixture of photography, screen printing and multi-media works. There are pieces to suit a wide variety of budgets, and the works are from a broad range of emerging and established artists, including Shane Lynam, Roisin White and Jordan McQuaid.   • Exhibition Opening: Imperial Courts @ Belfast Exposed

    This Thursday (September 6th) sees the preview of Dana Lixenberg’s first solo exhibition on the island of Ireland in Belfast Exposed. Titled Imperial Courts 1993-2015, the series saw Lixenberg collect the 20th edition of the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize in 2017. In 1992 the artist was commissioned to document areas of Los Angeles following the riots that took place after the acquittal of police officers following the much publicised brutality during the arrest of Rodney King. Lixenberg returned the following year and began a 22-year process of documenting the area and its inhabitants, focusing on the Imperial Courts housing project. The time-frame…

  • Exhibition: Gaelic Fields @ The Library Project

    Opening today in The Library Project is Paul Carroll’s new body of work Gaelic Fields. The project is the culmination of seven years work, that saw Carroll traverse the 32 counties of the island documenting local GAA pitches. These spaces are hubs of the communities and the artist’s capturing of these local landscapes speaks of the both the societal nature of sport and its impact on the land. The work is on show from today (Tuesday 6th) with the official opening this coming Thursday (8th).   • Halftone Print Fair

    This week is the last chance to catch the Halftone print fair in The Library Project, which is due to close this coming Sunday. The fair features work from over 80 artists, who make use of a variety of print mediums including: linoprint, risography, illustration and screen printing. Prices for work range from €10 to €10,000 – appealing to both the collector and enthusiast. As well as being a commercial endeavour, Halftone also represents an exhibition that showcases a cross section of current printing techniques and styles, so is an important resource for any print maker.   • Exhibition: Let Us Eat Cake @ Belfast Exposed

    If you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Northern Ireland is the worst place to live, in terms of rights, in the whole of the UK or Ireland. Fundamental rights that exist throughout Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales do not exist in the North. Over the past decade homophobic hate crimes have increased year on year, and specific legislation for trans hate crimes is absence. When all of these are mixed in with the melting pot conservative ideologies, such as creationism, that still exist in Northern Ireland, it results in an atmosphere unconducive to the LGBTQ+ community.
