• Stream: Ed Zealous – Diamonds For Eyes

    Belfast-based quartet Ed Zealous have released ‘Diamonds The Eyes’, the latest single to be taken from their forthcoming debut album, Wired. A typically starry-eyed slice of dancefloor-flooding electro-pop, the three-and-a-half minute track comes after the release of the singles ‘Medicines’, ‘Thanks A Million’ and ‘Telepaths’.   • Watch: Phantogram – Nothing But Trouble

    Taken from their forthcoming new album, Voices, New York electronic rock duo Josh Carter and Sarah Berthel AKA Phantogram have released their intoxicating new single, ‘Nothing But Trouble’. “Don’t listen to me, I’m nothing but trouble,” Berthel warns on the chorus, an ensnaring electro-pop refrain oddly reminiscent of Eels’ ‘Bus Stop Boxer’. Over the course of four minutes, the track’s fizzling, skittering, synth-driven spell imparts a exceptional nocturnal pulse that promises some great things for the pair’s upcoming second studio album.     Officially launched at the weekend at Belfast’s wonderful Sunflower Bar, Troubles, the latest EP by Northern Irish twee-folk collective The Jepettos is available to stream and purchase via Bandcamp. Featuring the singles ‘Chemicals’ and ‘Water’ (featuring Alana Henderson and Scott Jamison of Go Wolf) the four-track EP is a brief but brilliantly burrowing release brimming with the band’s instantly recognisable brand of lullaby folk.     Currently based in Edinburgh, Derry alt-folk singer-songwriter Simon Herron has unveiled his wonderfully wistful new EP, Demons. Released via DhARMA, the four-track release was recorded and mixed by Phil D’Alton at Graham House Studios and mastered by Jon Moorehead. D’Alton, Walter Thee Goon and Gerard Gormley of Master & Dog formed Herron’s band in the recording process.     Belfast-based rock n’ roll band The Groundlings have unveiled a stream of two new tracks titled ‘Life Is Fine’ and ‘Roses Red, Violence Blue’. Two brilliantly garagey efforts from the three-piece – recorded by the band themselves – both tracks are expected to feature on a six-track EP at some point in the new year.     Lisburn lo-fi acoustic singer-songwriter Aaron Shanley has unveiled a new nine-track “bootleg” release, Bedroom Tapes: Swiss Cottage Teal Roses. Ahead of a fully-recorded studio release in the pipeline, Shanley said the release featured “generally unheard stuff that won’t ever be recorded again or featured on future albums” and ranges from the brilliantly understated – ‘Dear No One’ and the Death Cab For Cutie-esque ‘I Hope So, Laura’-  to more buoyant tracks including ‘She’s So Easy To Hold’ and ‘Trouble’, a track that evokes the heartfelt Americana of Foy Vance.     Ahead of a handful of pre-Christmas shows, Dublin four-piece Fight Like Apes have unveiled a new track titled ‘Carousel’. A typically urgent number from the electro-indie-punk-popmakers – propelled by scurrying synths, Books-esque sample and MayKay’s voracious vocal – it feature on the band’s from their forthcoming new album, set for release at some point in 2014.     Belfast indie pop band Go Wolf are streaming their latest single,’Voices’ and its b-side, ‘Even God’. Whereas ‘Voices’ was featured on the fifteenth compilation by French electronic label Kitsuné last month, the version of ‘Even God’ is a re-recorded version from the version released last year.     Ahead of its launch at Belfast’s Radar tonight, Thursday November 14, Belfast-based four-piece Chocolate Love Factory have released a digital stream of their latest EP, Pickle & POG.
