Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will play Dublin next year. Taking place as part of a wider Spring European and UK tour, the band will play Dublin’s 3 Arena on Friday, May 8 2020. Initial details of Other Voices return to Dingle have been announced. Set for its 18th outing, the much-loved Irish music institution will take over the Kerry port town across November 29 to December 1. As well as teaming up with Dingle Gin as the partner for the Music Trail – a dynamic series of gigs at venues across the town throughout the weekend – organisers have also revealed that the distinct ideas steam with OV, Ireland’s Edge, will take place across November 29-30. The eclectic line-up for this year’s Imagine Arts Festival in Waterford has been announced. Set to return to various venues in the city, the festival will host a across October 18-27, the multi-disciplinary festival with host 80 full-bodied and well-balanced events spanning music, theatre, dance, visual art discussion and debate. Among the musical highlights this year include Cat Dowling, and fast-rising Northern Irish artist Kitt Philippa (pictured) with support from Laura Duff. Asuna is a pioneering Japanese sound artist set for this year’s Belfast International Arts Festival to perform his latest mind-bending live creation, 100 Keyboards. The project involves playing the same key on 100 battery-operated keyboards at once, building a sonic moiré effect which must be heard to be believed. The programme for this year’s Sound of Belfast has been launched. Taking across November 1-10 in various Belfast venues, the ten-day celebration of local music was established by Belfast’s Oh Yeah Music Centre to promote and celebrate the musicians, bands, venues, promoters and music communities of Belfast. This year’s programme is its most extensive to date, with over 70 performances set for 18 participating venues. Daniel Johnston fans, rejoice. A tribute night to the late, great U.S. musician and cartoonist will take place at the Black Gate in Galway on October 26th. Kicking off from 10pm, the event will feature Blackbird & Crow, Dylan Murphy, A Lilac Decline, Brendan Dolan (A Band Called Wanda) and New Pope performing the music of Johnston, who passed on September 11th, aged 58. Ambient duo A Winged Victory for the Sullen are set for Irish dates next year. Dustin O’Halloran and Adam Wiltzie (also of Stars of the Lid) will play Dublin’s National Concert Hall on March 3rd and Belfast’s St. Rosemary Chuch on March 4th.
