As part of a 40th anniversary European tour, it’s been announced that Public Image Ltd. will play Dublin’ Tivoli Theatre on Sunday, August 26. It was previously announced that the legendary, John Lydon fronted four-piece – who currently comprise Lydon, Lu Edmonds, Scott Firth and Bruce Smith – will play Bangor’s Open House festival on Saturday, August 25. Tickets for the Dublin show go on sale on Monday, February 26 at 11am.

Always a significant event in the Irish music calendar, last night saw the 2017 IMRO Irish Live Music Venue of the Year Awards recognise some of the island’s best live music venues. Ahead of the release of their Live at the NCH on March 2, The Gloaming have launched the video for their new seven-minute single ‘The Booley House’. Hailing from Derry, alternative-folk singer-songwriter Simon Herron plays, in his own words, “quiet, creaky, melancholy songs. In what’s one of our most anticipated Irish releases of 2018, traditional vocal quartet Landless have released the video for ‘Doomsday’, the first single from debut album Bleaching Bones. First heard on their eponymous debut EP, the Belfast & Dublin-based outfit’s brief & minimal video highlights the qualities – “Evocative, celestial, ethereal and, above all, extremely resonant” – that make Landless such an important prospect in the current resurgence & contemporary progression of Irish traditional music.
