With Longitude announcing their first string of acts last week, Forbidden Fruit have followed suit with a very tidy announcement featuring some electronic and hip-hop heavyweights. Set to feature 70 acts over five stages, the festival at Dublin’s Royal Hospital Kilmainham – taking place on the June Bank Holiday weekend, May 39-31 – will see the likes of Run The Jewels (above), Fatboy Slim and Wu-Tang Clan perform. Having released their long-awaited (not to mention, altogether stellar) debut album, Wired, back in February, Belfast-based electro-rock band Ed Zealous have announced they’re to split. Now in its ninth year – the year “of the Rex”, no less – Forfey Festival have announced the first dozen acts to play the festival this Summer. With many acts yet to be announced, the first twelve acts confirm to play are The Emerald Armada, Skeletons, Rupture Dogs, RAMS’ Pocket Radio, More Than Conquerors, Joshua Burnside, Hornets, Go Wolf, Ciaran Lavery, Carriages, Bee Mick See and Affleck. Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, the Michelstown-based festival Indiependence announced its lineup yesterday evening. The festival – taking place on the August bank holiday weekend – draws in bigger names this year, with Public Enemy (above), White Lies and Tom Odell all headlining.
