Irish “Political Party” Room For Rebellion will return this Friday 23rd March for three parties spread across three cities, all in aid of the Irish reproductive rights campaign. The parties will be held in The Black Box in Belfast, Jigwaw in Dublin and The Yard, Hackney Wick in London respectively, with each event featuring a superb line-up of female DJs. It’s been announced that L.A. lo-fi multi-instrumentalist maestro Ariel Marcus Rosenberg aka Ariel Pink will play Dublin’s Button Factory on August 16. Co-promoted by Aiken and Skinny Wolves, tickets for the show are on sale now priced €22. Ariel Pink released his stellar 11th studio album, Dedicated to Bobby Jameson, via Mexican Summer back in September last year.
As part of a run of six European shows, Bloc Party will perform their debut album, Silent Alarm, at Dublin’s 3Arena on October 22. Hands down their finest hour, Silent Alarm was released to critical and commercial acclaim in 2005. Belfast bass and drums punk rock duo Bosco Ramos made a sizable dent with the release of their fuzzed-out debut EP, Signs of Life, last year. Today, they’re back with their most emphatic single effort to date in the form of nuanced, unravelling alt rock blitz ‘Mayflies’. In the kind of lineup we’d kill for back home, London is lucky enough to bear witness to a St. Patrick’s Day celebration that we’d hold our watch to, packed with fiercely singular hibernophiles & noteable outsiders. It’s the first edition of the national stereotype-subverting Cushty Gamut, and takes place at New River Studios, Ground Floor Unit E on the Eade Road. Dublin electronic duo Simon Cullen and Sorca McGrath aka Ships have walked away with the Album of the Year 2017 at tonight’s RTÉ Choice Music Prize. The event – which took place once again at Vicar Street – saw the pair scoop the prize, as well as a cheque for €10,000, courtesy of The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) for their stellar debut album, Precession.
