Whether you look to his work as one-half of Solar Bears, his solo project Trenchurian, making up one quarter of Leo Drezden, or co-heading recording and production duo The Deaf Brothers with Robert Watson aka SCAN, Rian Trench is constantly finding new ways to demonstrate his remarkable versatility. Currently making his way through Mexico, the Wicklow producer and musician has recently released a suitably blissed-out re-imagining of ‘Sum of its Parts’ by Come On Live Long. Marrying flourishes of shapeshifting synth and a host of reposed beats, it’s a sublime effort that forges completely new from the original.

Being the big fans of Come On Live Long that we are, it’s with great pleasure that we share the latest single from guitarist and vocalist Robert John Ardiff‘s forthcoming solo album, Between The Bed and Room. Following the brittle and really rather magnificent ‘Paint Your Nails’, ‘Lying in the Gutter’ is an even more delicate affair. The rich, vast textures of Come On Live Long’s sound are stripped away to leave Ardiff exposed and reliant on a self-trust and confidence in compositional simplicity. Luckily, in the singles preceding this and once again here, there seems to be no shortage of that. Seems we…

Ahead of playing the final RHA Hennessy Lost Friday on the year on Friday night, we talk to Louise Gaffney from Dublin indie/alternative-pop maestros Come On Live Long about progression, perfectionism, influence and the importance of enjoying the moment. Go here for more info about the show. Hi, Louise. Your second album, In The Still, was released back in May. It’s right up there with the best Irish albums of the year. How was the songwriting process for this one? The songwriting process for In The Still was a little different to how it had been for the previous record. The…

Marking its final outing for 2017, RHA’S Hennessy Lost Friday returns on this Friday (October 20) with another first-rate bill. As well as a performance from Columbia Mills and a set from DJ Alex Donald, indie-pop maestros Come On Live Long will also make an appearance on the night. The latter’s second studio, In The Still, was released earlier this year to a wave of critical acclaim (something we will touch upon when we chat with the band ahead of this frankly unmissable show.) Besides the carefully-curated music bill, this Hennessy Lost Friday will also feature walking tours of the…

Ahead of the release of their sophomore album In The Still on May 19th, Come On Live Long have released a video for the title track. With additional production duties from Solar Bears’ Rian Trench, it’s a cut that showcases the group’s penchant for tempered atmosphere with Louise Gaffney’s vocal carrying it through to its conversely distorted peak, all brash Kalimba and agitated drums. The track is accompanied by an equally excellent video directed by Albert Hooi and starring Robyn Byrne and Laragh McCann.

Dublin’s Come On Live Long have announced the release of their long awaited second album In The Still. Having released their debut Everything Fall in 2013, the band took their time before returning for their sophomore effort. In that time we have heard teasers for the record without even realising, with ‘For The Birds’ and the breathtaking ‘Trough’ both set to appear on In The Still. Nonetheless, aside from playing scatters of gigs here and there, the past four years for Come On Live Long were spent largely on the periphery of the scene. Making a big impact whenever they did return however meant they were…

Last week, Dublin based group Come on Live Long returned with their first track in several months; the lush, smooth, R’n’B infused ‘For The Birds’. The song makes good use of the band’s known strong suits, from Louise Gaffney’s hypnotic vocals, Daithi O’Connor’s subtle yet ear pricking guitar licks, to their overall penchant for tremendous dynamic shifts which lead to a feeling of both ease and empowerment when listening. ‘For The Birds’ is taken from Come on Live Long’s second LP Move As One which is due to be released this Summer. Speaking of the writing process for the new album, Gaffney…

The great people of the Co-Present on Radiomade.ie have, in one year and nine months of broadcasting, had some of the finest Irish acts come in and record live sessions with the team’s wingman Gav Hennessy. So, in an immeasurable act of kindness, they’ve made available each one of the 168 tracks recorded from various live sessions, available on Clowdy. As well as that, presenter Dwayne Woods has announced that this Friday’s show will be the final weekday show before a move to the more accessible 3-5pm slot on Saturday afternoon. To celebrate this, they’ve organised three days of awesome Irish music…

Having positively enamoured with their previous single ‘Trough’ (which we premiered back in January) Dublin’s Come On Live Long have returned with a fluttering, kaleidoscopic, seven-minute alt-pop gem, ‘Speak Up’. Recorded in August last year, the recording of the track was “an opportunity for the band to try out a new way to collaborate, adopting a different approach to communicating and arranging the piece”. We’re big fans. Stream the track below.
