• Stream: SBTRKT – New Dorp, New York

London’s favourite masked DJ Aaron Jerome, aka SBTRKT has unveiled an eccentric new track, featuring Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, called ‘New Dorp, New York’. The debut track from the producer’s much anticipated sophomore album Wonder Where We Land follows 2011’s much-lauded SBTRKT, an album that brought artists such as Sampha and Jessie Ware much-deserved exposure, as well as refining his tense, minimal post-dubstep into something that has been emulated ever since. This new track is even more bubbly and noisy than ever, with Ezra Koenig’s rambling lyricism adding a modest pop flavour to the song. Listen to ‘New Dorp, New York’ below. The new album…

  • Watch: Conor Oberst – You Are Your Mother’s Child

A new video has been released for ‘You Are Your Mother’s Child’, a track from Conor Oberst‘s latest album Upside Down Mountain. Oberst has been in the news more often than he would like recently, following a rape accusation that has since been confirmed untrue by his accuser. Thankfully, the American singer-songwriter hasn’t focussed on the injustice of the case and ensuing media frenzy, and has instead resumed his output of stripped back, melancholy folk. This new video is a welcome moment of serenity from the singer, quite befitting of the track it accompanies. Watch the new video below. Upside Down…

  • Listen: Sleep – The Clarity

The legendary stoner metal band Sleep have released a brand new track entitled ‘The Clarity’. It’s the first release from the group in over 20 years, following 2003’s monumental Dopesmoker – a single 63 minute track of thunderous and intoxicating guitar riffage. The Californian trio began creating music in the mid 90s and, drawing from influences as varied as Black Sabbath and Black Flag, helped pioneer the stoner rock genre. This new track promises more of the same, that familiar guitar groove slowed down to a crawl and unabashedly soaked in vibrato – you can almost feel the desert sand…

  • Watch: Sister Ghost – Scent

Derry garage-punk singer-songwriter Shannon O’Neill AKA Sister Ghost have unveiled the video for her debut single, ‘Scent’. Recorded by Russell Matbouli at Belfast’s Resonate Studio, the track is the first outing from multi-instrumentalist O’Neill, previously of Belfast-based three-piece Vanilla Gloom. The track – accompanied with an acoustic demo of the debut single – is available to stream/purchase via Bandcamp. Check that and the video for the track out below. Scent by Sister Ghost

  • Album stream: Geotic – Morning Shore

Will Wiesenfeld, the ambient electronic producer more commonly known as Baths, has released a new full-length album under the alias Geotic, entitled Morning Shore. The producer has been treating us to impossibly pretty electronic music since 2010, and his second release, 2013’s Obsidian received widespread critical acclaim. With this more recent project, the relaxing loop-based songs are more natural and revolve around acoustic guitar, in the style of producers such as Bibio and Tycho. Morning Shore is the first in a line of planned releases entitled Eon Isle, each to be based around a single instrument, and after hearing this first…

  • Watch: Groom – I’ve Never Been In a Real Fight

Having released three albums and EP to date – the latter the exquisite Brothers and Sisters – Dublin indie-pop four-piece Groom have unveiled the video to ‘I’ve Never Been In A Fight’. Directed and edited by the band’s drummer Ruan Van Vliet, the video features frontman Michael Stevens in various places in Dublin including The Lower Deck on Portabello Harbour. The track is taken from Groom’s forthcoming album Bread and Jam, released via Popical Island. Watch the video below. [/video

  • Stream: SlowPlaceLikeHome – Luna

Having caught our ear a few months back, Donegal producer Keith Mannion AKA SlowPlaceLikeHome has released his second single proper, the beguiling ‘Luna’. Lifted from Mannion’s forthcoming debut album, titled Romola, the track is a wonderfully phantasmal release, capturing a more fleshed-out, concentrated songwriting approach. Romola is released via August 11th via Bluestack Records. Stream SlowPlaceLikeHome via Soundcloud below.

  • Stream: LORIS – Do It Right

Belfast electro-indie three piece LORIS have released their second single ‘Do It Right’, the follow up to their debut single ‘I’ve Been Quiet’. Together since 2013, the band once again give us their own brand of thoughtful indie-pop that’s not too dissimilar to the likes of Skibunny or Little Boots. Albeit with a  more upbeat atmosphere than their previous single you can stream and download it for free via their Bandcamp page. Listen to the new single ‘Do It Right’ below. Do It Right by LORIS

  • Stream: We Were Promised Jetpacks – Safety In Numbers

Gloomy Scottish alt-rock group We Were Promised Jetpacks have unveiled a new track from their just-announced album Unravelling, entitled ‘Safety In Numbers’. The track begins with pretty swells of vocals and driven piano chords, but builds into a fantastic crescendo in a way that Scottish groups always seem to do so well (think Arab Strap, Frightened Rabbit or Blackened Sky era Biffy Clyro.) The track features some of the more pop-sensible and catchy melodies from the bands previous releases, and is a triumphant return for one of Scotland’s strongest acts right now. • Stream: REID – Fractures

Featuring suitably enchanting vocals by Karen Sheridan AKA Slow Skies) Cork producer REID has concocted delicate somnambulant wonder on his new track, ‘Fractures’. Clocking in a just over four minutes, the track evolves from a simmering, shady eulogy to a fully-blossomed dancefloor jam, shuffling beats marrying gently stabbing synth lines and tinkling chimes. The track is taken from REID’s new EP, Fractures, which will be released via M:UK on August 11. Stream ‘Fractures’ via Soundcloud below.
