  • Premiere: Boss Sound Manifesto – Full Moon Crazy Dog

Self-proclaimed “four old punks and a soul boy from Belfast”, Boss Sound Manifesto will launch their debut vinyl and digital EP, In It For The Good Times, at Belfast’s Voodoo on December 20. Ahead of that, we’re pleased to premiere the wonderfully tripped out video to the release’s lead single, ‘Full Moon Crazy Dog’. Created by Belfast-based visual maestros DSNT, the promo – very much in accordance with the music – distils the band’s brilliantly left-of-centre, decidedly no-fucks-given approach. “In it for the good times” indeed. Watch the video below and go the Facebook event page for the EP launch here.

  • Watch: Talos – Bloom

One of our must-see acts at the Cork Music Trail next week, Eoin French AKA Talos has unveiled the video for his latest single, ‘Bloom’. Created by the ridiculously-talented Feel Good Lost, the video is quite an intense affair, centering on the attempted (physical and psychic/spiritual) release of its hyper-distressed female protagonist. The track is released with ‘Tethered Bones’ on 12″. Watch the video below.

  • Watch: Squarehead – 2025

Equal parts wistful and wonderful, Dublin indie-rock trio Squarehead have unveiled the video for their latest single ‘2025’. Created by Domhnall and Brian Gleeson, the video very nicely captures perhaps the biggest of all the big questions: “Where does the time go?” It confronts it and turns it something of rare beauty – the faint sense of melancholy pales into a return to the “good old days”, and a very fun reminder of Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr’s age-old adage of “plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose”. It also kind of reminded us of this. ‘2025’ is taken from Squarehead’s exceptional Respect, released last…

  • Watch: Kerbdog – Electricity

Sixteen long years in the making, Kilkenny alt-rock heroes Kerbdog released a new track, ‘Electricity’. Accompanying by a straight-and-to-the-point video of the band recording the track – a seminal moment in itself, let’s be honest – comes ahead of the release of the quartet’s Pledge campaign-funded live album, Congregation, which is set for release on October 6. Cormac Battle and co. will also hit the road in November, playing the following Irish and UK shows. November 14: Dublin Academy November 15: Manchester Ritz w/ Amplifier, Nine Black Alps, Hawk Eyes, Hey You Guys! November 16: London Forum w/ Amplifier, Hawk Eyes, Jamie Lenman, Hey You Guys! • Watch: Girl Band – De Bom Bom

Dublin noise rock quartet Girl Band have been very active as of late. As well as having the slightly daunting honour of supporting both Metz and Slint on recent tours, they also been on the road on the their own right, as well as delivering nothing short of an unforgettable performance on the Friday night of Electric Picnic. The latest milestone on their altogether upward journey is the release of ‘De Bom Bom’, a single that perfectly embodies the manic fury and almost touchable neurotic majesty of their current material. The accompanying video, created by Second Frame Films, mirrors the aforementioned…

  • Watch: UNKNWN – BBY

Bound for Electric Picnic at the end of the month, Champion Sound-signed electronic duo UNKNWN have unveiled their debut music video, for the track ‘BBY’. Directed by Daniel Holmes, it is a nicely edited, suitably phantasmal affair, wonderfully accompanying the track’s hazy, drifting air. ‘BBY’ is taken from the duo’s DEVIL/BBY EP, which you purchase right here. UNKNWN – comprised of producer Chris Hanna and vocalist Gemma Dunleavy – have steadily grown in stature and acclaim over the last few months, something that will come into sharp focus when they play alongside labelmates Ryan Vail, Contour, Ghosts, Talkboy and Replete at the Body & Soul tent at…

  • Video Premiere: Robyn G Shiels – This Deathly Charm

Back in May, Kilrea acoustic-doom conjurer par excellence Robyn G Shiels launched his exceptional second album, The Blood of the Innocents, at Belfast’s Black Box. Joined by an array of talented musician friends, Shiels delivered a masterful set, excavating dark and earthly truths, crystallising, once more, his reputation as one of the country’s very finest songsmiths and an tale-wielding artisan, informed by an acute perception of memory and desolation, of the highest order. Three months on from that launch, we’re pleased to premiere Shiels’ latest video, for his track ‘This Deathly Charm’. Directed by Seamus Harahan, the video is sub-titled as “A song, a…

  • Watch: Oh Volcano – See No Evil

Ahead of their debut headline show at Belfast’s Voodoo on Saturday night (August 2), Belfast-based band Oh Volcano have unveiled their second single, ‘See No Evil’. Maintaining their tight-lipped presence thus far, the video – featuring stock footage and some nifty editing – was created by Edward Butler. The band, comprised of ex-General Fiasco members/brothers Owen and Enda Strathern released their debut single, ‘Oceans’, back in February. Watch the video below.

  • Watch: Groom – I’ve Never Been In a Real Fight

Having released three albums and EP to date – the latter the exquisite Brothers and Sisters – Dublin indie-pop four-piece Groom have unveiled the video to ‘I’ve Never Been In A Fight’. Directed and edited by the band’s drummer Ruan Van Vliet, the video features frontman Michael Stevens in various places in Dublin including The Lower Deck on Portabello Harbour. The track is taken from Groom’s forthcoming album Bread and Jam, released via Popical Island. Watch the video below. [/video
