• Album stream: God Is An Astronaut – Origins

    Co. Wicklow post-rock band God Is An Astronaut are streaming their sixth studio album, Origins, via Bandcamp. Their first album as a five-piece the album “cements their place as one of the world’s most intense, musically – and visually – inventive post rock bands”. It also sees the Torsten Kinsella-fronted band’s return to Rocket Girl Records, who released their debut album back in 2005.   • Stream: The Dismemberment Plan – Invisible

    Washington D.C. indie rock quartet The Dismemberment Plan are streaming the second track to be taken from their forthcoming fifth album, Uncanny Valley. Twelve years on from the release of their last studio album – 2001’s superb Change – the Travis Morrison-fronted band called it quits in 2003 only to reform in 2011 for a string of dates.   • Album stream: Linebacker Dirge – Take Shelter

    Belfast-based alt-rock four-piece Linebacker Dirge have released their thirteen-track debut album, Take Shelter. Comprised of members of bands such as Kasper Rosa, A Northern Light and Affleck, the album –  the long-awaited full-length follow-up to the band’s 2011 EP, There Are No Clean Getaways – was recorded by Jason Gibson (guitars/vocals), James Bruce (drums) and Ian McHugh (guitar, additional vocals).   • Download: Nine Inch Nails – Copy Of A

    Taken from the band’s forthcoming new album Hesitation Marks, Nine Inch Nails are giving away a new track – ‘Copy Of A’ – via Amazon. Something of a recent live staple, the track comes off the back of the release of ‘Came Back Haunted’ in June, the band’s first single since signing with Columbia Records. Nine Inch Nails play Belfast’s Belsonic on August 21. Go here to buy tickets. Hesitation Marks – the band’s eighth studio album to date – will be released on September 3.   • Download: Psychojet – Flights EP

    Belfast-based instrumental quartet Psychojet have released a two-track EP titled Flights, a parting gift of sorts following their farewell on Sunday night. Comrpised of the aptly-titled ‘Swansong’ and ‘Epic Succeed’ the tracks – which reveal a marked compositional progression from the band – was recorded and mixed by Clark Philips at Great Northern Productions.   • The Wood Burning Savages – Long Good Friday

    Derry alt-rock quartet The Wood Burning Savages have unveiled their new single, the excellent ‘Long Good Friday’. Recorded and mixed by the band’s bassist Dan Acheson, the five-minute track follows on from the band’s previous single, ‘All I Want To Know’. The Wood Burning Savages – fronted by Paul Connolly – recently performed at the last ever Glasgowbury festival at Eagle’s Rock, Draperstown.     Belfast-based alt-rock quartet The Rupture Dogs have released their latest single, ‘Throw Your Heart Into It’. The second track to be taken from the band’s forthcoming new album Feral, it was recorded by James Lyttle at Millband Studios, Lisburn and was mixed and mastered by Neal Calderwood at Manor Park Studio, Magherafelt.     Two days after they unveiled the video to their new single ‘The Difference Between’, Mojo Fury are now streaming another new track, ‘Iris Influential’, via YouTube. Taken from the band’s forthcoming, long-awaited second album, it is an electronic-led, decidedly more laidback affair from the Mike Mormecha-led band, who have started a pledge campaign to assist the release of the aforementioned new album, also named The Difference Between. Go here to learn contribute to the campaign.     Swedish duo Maria Lindén and Fredrick Balck AKA I Break Horses are streaming a new track, ‘Denial’, via Soundcloud. Following on from their 2011 debut album Hearts, the two -piece are currently in the process of recorded its full-length follow-up, set for release via Bella Union in the Autumn.
