• Watch: Kowalski – Let’s Start Over

    Bangor indie-pop quartet Kowalski have unveiled the lyric video to their sun-kissed new single, ‘Let’s Start Over’. Despite three-quarters of the band no longer living in Northern Ireland, the video – directed by Ross McConaghy – was filmed on location of the band’s scenic hometown. The track itself is taking from the band’s recently-released full-length debut album For The Love of Letting Go. The band’s show as part of this year’s Open House festival is our Gig of the Week.   • Watch: VerseChorusVerse – Our Truth Could Be Their Lie (Live)

    Taken from his forthcoming debut album, Tony Wright AKA VerseChorusVerse has unveiled a live, full-band video of his track ‘Our Truth Could Be Their Lie’. Filmed by Bandwith, the video was recorded live at Graham House Studios by Phil D’Alton and Walter Da Goon of alt-folk band Master & Dog. It is the first of four videos to be released from the session. Watch the video below.

  • Stream: The Dismemberment Plan – Invisible

    Washington D.C. indie rock quartet The Dismemberment Plan are streaming the second track to be taken from their forthcoming fifth album, Uncanny Valley. Twelve years on from the release of their last studio album – 2001’s superb Change – the Travis Morrison-fronted band called it quits in 2003 only to reform in 2011 for a string of dates.     North Coast post-rock quartet And So I Watch You From Afar and Belfast-based riffmasters LaFaro are amongst several new acts added to the already mighty bill for the Fighting With Wire-curated Cut The Transmission festival on Saturday, September 28.   • Album stream: Linebacker Dirge – Take Shelter

    Belfast-based alt-rock four-piece Linebacker Dirge have released their thirteen-track debut album, Take Shelter. Comprised of members of bands such as Kasper Rosa, A Northern Light and Affleck, the album –  the long-awaited full-length follow-up to the band’s 2011 EP, There Are No Clean Getaways – was recorded by Jason Gibson (guitars/vocals), James Bruce (drums) and Ian McHugh (guitar, additional vocals).   • Watch: No Age – An Impression

    L.A. experimental punk two-piece No Age have unveiled a video for new track, ‘An Impression’. Taken from the band’s fourth studio album entitled An Object – released today in the UK and tomorrow in the US via Sub Pop – the video for the track the brief, decidedly abstract clip was directed by the duo, Randy Randall (guitar) and Dean Spunt (drums/vocals).   • Watch: Kim Deal – Are You Mine?

    Having recently left the Pixies and been busy touring Last Splash as part of its 20th anniversary with the Breeders, Kim Deal has found some time to record some new solo material. Paired with ‘Wish I Was’ – available via her website on 7″ vinyl – ‘Are You Mine?’ has been released with a accompanying video. Undergoing a fit of creativity of sorts, Deal also recently unveiled the tracks ‘Walking With a Killer’ and ‘Hot Shot’.   • In Utero Reissue Tracklisting Unveiled

    Twenty years on from its original release, the tracklisting for the four-disc reissue of Nirvana’s seminal third studio album In Utero has been unveiled. Set for release via Universal on September 24 the 3 CD and 1 DVD release will contain 70 tracks of demos, rarities, live recordings and a remastered version of the original album, almost exclusively mixed by Steve Albini.   • Download: Nine Inch Nails – Copy Of A

    Taken from the band’s forthcoming new album Hesitation Marks, Nine Inch Nails are giving away a new track – ‘Copy Of A’ – via Amazon. Something of a recent live staple, the track comes off the back of the release of ‘Came Back Haunted’ in June, the band’s first single since signing with Columbia Records.   • Download: Psychojet – Flights EP

    Belfast-based instrumental quartet Psychojet have released a two-track EP titled Flights, a parting gift of sorts following their farewell on Sunday night. Comrpised of the aptly-titled ‘Swansong’ and ‘Epic Succeed’ the tracks – which reveal a marked compositional progression from the band – was recorded and mixed by Clark Philips at Great Northern Productions.
