We’re big fans of Feather Beds here at TTA. Now, the project’s Michael Orange has started something completely different in the form of Psank. Teaming up with Adam Browne AKA Plaice, the Dublin based duo delve further into the electronic landscape than either of them have before in this new project. Have played together previously in Autumn Owls, the pair are well used to working together and it shows in their debut EP Fabric which finds them branching into explorative ambience and melancholic dancefloor territory. While Orange has ventured into this kind of territory before with his superb Feather Beds releases, with Psank he and Browne explore even…

In 2017, Peter Lawlor (AKA Replete) and Leo Pearson (whose worked with David Holmes, Shit Robot, more) were commissioned to create 90 minutes of original music for a 46-speaker geodesic dome at Electric Picnic. The installation, a part of Red Bull’s Soundome Stage, found the pair embracing sounds on a grand, cinematic scale that nonetheless maintained a danceable groove. Now, having release a couple of stellar singles over the past couple of months, the duo are readying the release of their debut album. With their third single ‘Nocturne’, the pair revive themes that gleamed through on first single ‘Je Suis’:…

Porto-based, west of Ireland raised artist and musician Olan Monk‘s two EPs INIS and ANAM come paired with a single lyric each. They aren’t sung. In fact, they’re not heard at all. Nonetheless, he says, they’re the lyrics. They read as follows… ANAM extend ourselves through rifts in place multiple outcomes of wet decisions delusions made and loves we lost on distant shores breathing, being, mind less Wanderer INIS nobody enters the second zone there are always enough others to exist you drift hopelessly through other people the love they give is more than a geographic boundary a feeling extends…

In case you haven’t gathered, we’re big fans of Dublin shoegaze/dream-pop band Galants. So much so, that we ranked their self-titled EP as one of our favourites of 2017. Now, the four-piece have returned with their new single ‘In Vain’, lifted from their forthcoming second EP Follow. Set for release in Autumn via Zen Ten records, the new EP was partly recorded in a north Dublin attic before being placed in the capable hands of producer Dan Doherty at Darklands Audio. The track is a typically bright, emotive number from the group which takes “a sonic cue from from Ride and The…

Ahead of what is set to be a monstrous midnight show tomorrow night (19th May) in The Grand Social, Dublin’s cosmic heft overlords No Spill Blood have shared a brand new track in the form of ‘Ossein’ Recorded as part of a live session in Guerrilla Studios Dublin this month, the synth-doom, Komische, prog behemoths have served up another dose of world-swallowing energy marked by Matt Hedigan’s frightening howl, Ruadhan O’Meara’s trademark synths and Ror Conaty’s propulsive drums. The track marks the first new music from the trio since their 2015 Sargent House outing Heavy Electricity. The session was shot and edited by Thom McDermott. Feast your ears below.…

Dublin’s Michael Orange AKA Feather Beds‘ 2017 album Blooming was a record we described as “a addictive, warm listen. Perfect to accompany blustery autumn walks as the evenings draw in, or to course through the room as you unwind by a fireplace.” Now, over half a year later and as we enter into the summer months with torrents of water under the bridge since, it feels apt to reflect on an album that, while understated, remains a rich, valuable and enticing listen that reveals its intricacy more with each play through. With the sharing of a new video for LP track ‘Headache Dreams’,…

Galway’s Any Anything formed from out of a shared appreciation of pop music and hash. After the unfortunate disbanding of their former band Drown – who we were fans of – vocalist/guitarist Robert Dalton and drummer Chris Connors picked up the discarded post-punk and shoegaze remnents and sought to reassemble them with a newfound sheen. Spending the past several months recording with producer Owen Geaney, the resulting EP is one that oozes with a rediscovered confidence, as their debut single ‘First Time’ will attest to. With additional vocals and synths provided on the record by former Drown member Laura McGennis and with new recruits Morgan Doogue (Guitar)…

J Colleran has shared the details of his forthcoming album Gardenia. Set for release on 29 June, the album will be his first since shedding his former MMOTHS alias. The eight track LP will be released on Because Music, who have previously worked with the likes of Metronomy, Christine and the Queens and Django Django. To coincide with announcement, Colleran has also shared another track from the album, ‘bERA’ with a breathtaking video directed by Christopher Gray. Last month, Colleran shared the tremendous ‘O+SOH‘, the first single to be lifted from the album. The track found the Newbridge native branching further into fields of intricate sound design and classical composition than…

Dublin’s The 202s will release their new album From When The Future Was Yet To Hurt Us tomorrow March 30 via Difference/Repetition. With a selection of brand new cuts, previously released singles and tracks from their superb 2017 EP, Up In Thin Air, this album feels like the culmination of two years worth of gradual graft from one of Ireland’s finest, most understated acts. Having reformed in 2016 after a lengthy spell away – real life stuff, “since we last made a record, The 202s have made five human beings!” – the trio have been steadily releasing tracks in anticipation of this album and now, as it lands,…

Young Dublin three-piece Sandy Kim have shared the video for their ew single ‘Rabbit Hole’. The indie rock/dream-pop trio formed in 2017 and recorded five tracks back in December. With plans to release a single a month, they’re off to a flying start with ‘Rabbit Hole’, a jangling guitar number reminiscent of DIIV, Sea Pinks and Ride with a bridge that comes from the side and brings a sort of galactic energy that God is an Astronaut would be proud of. If this is the quality we’re to expect from this lot, then we have every reason to be quite excited we reckon.
